The Annual General Meeting of BC Hockey is, as the name suggests, the main annual meeting of the members of BC Hockey. It is held Friday to Sunday, normally the fourth weekend in June. It is the only regularly scheduled meeting when the BC Hockey Executive Committee and its constituent committees (minor, junior, male senior / recreational, female senior / recreational) meet simultaneously.
The 2009 AGM will be held June 19-21 at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver, BC.
AGM Voting Delegate Registration Form must be completed to be able to vote at the Annual General Meeting. Please note that BC Hockey By-Laws stipulate eligibility for all voting delegates and proxies relate to the registration of teams / leagues for the season that has just been completed. BC Hockey By-Laws also require that members be in good standing, so please ensure that all accounts relating to the past season are current with BC Hockey prior to the AGM.Voting registration instructions will be provided to individuals upon completion of the membership application.
AGM Seminar - Hockey 101 Sessions
Recruiting New Volunteers
This informational session is designed to provide advice on how local associations can motivate and recruit volunteers to fill the various positions from Bench Staff to Executive. This seminar will be conducted by Ken Bellemare. Ken is a former university coach at McGill University and Dalhousie University in Football, Women’s Volleyball and Junior Varsity Hockey and the Athletic Director at Dalhousie University for eight years. Ken spent four years as Chairman of the Board with the Coaching Association of Canada currently has his own Training Company “Communication Magic”. Ken works extensively in business, sport and education.

Organizational Structure
This session will outline the key positions that are required within a Minor Hockey Association and the Job Descriptions for each. The seminar will be lead be Lawrence Kinch, a long time Member of Chilliwack Minor Hockey Association including the position of President. Lawrence is currently active with the BC Hockey Appeal Committee.

Conflict Resolution
This session will outline best practices and policies with respect to harassment and abuse, complaints and solving conflict within a Minor Hockey Association. The session will be conducted by BC Hockey’s Harassment Advisor Peter Lawless. Peter is a full partner with Johns, Southward, Walton & Margetts Barristers and Solicitors and has much experience with respect to sport dispute resolution.

Team Selection and Organization
The goal of this session is to provide Minor Hockey Association Administrators with a foundation of team selection and organization processes at all player levels. The formation of teams can be a source of controversy in any association’s seasonal plan. Successful operations are a combination of a fair process, technical expertise, association policy and communication. This session is designed to examine an organizational approach to team selection. This session will be lead by Adam Hayduk, Executive Director of Vancouver Thunderbird MHA. Adam is also a BC Hockey High Performance coach and on-ice official.
