Technical Skill Development/Certification Maintenance
To best serve our players, BC Hockey in coopreration with Hockey Canada, have created a series of Instructional Stream Specialty Clinics to enhance the skill repertoire of member coaches. These technical courses are aimed at specific elements in our game and are relevant to coaches of all levels and abilities. These clinics are a terrific way to polish your technical teaching methods, liaise with other coaches and ensure the maintenance of your NCCP certification.
BC Hockey is proud to offer the following clinics:
- Checking Skills
- Developing Defense
Minor Hockey Associations (MHA) can book these clinics HERE.
Interested coaches can see current offerings HERE.
The Coaching Association in partnership with Hockey Canada and BC Hockey recognize the value of having coaches that are engaged in professional development programs which reinforce the values of lifelong learning and sharing amongst the coaching community.
In order for BC Hockey coaches at the Development 1 and High Performance 1 levels to maintain their certified status, they will be required to get professional development points. These points can be earned through a magnitude of activities that coaches already participate in. This includes:
- NCCP Clinics (Coach 1 - Intro to Coach, Coach 2 - Coach Level, Development 1 and High Performance 1)
- Instructional Stream Specialty Clinics
- Active coaching
Administration of the Certification Maintenance Program will be led by the Coaching Association of Canada and coaches can track their status by visiting their locker profile.
