BC Hockey announced November 7, 2011 that Jesse Keca (Kelowna, BC) has been named the Female Midget AAA player of the month for October. Keca led the Thompson-Okanagan Rockets with nine (9) goals and six (6) assists.
“This is Jesse’s first year in the league and she proving to be a dominant player,” commented Thompson-Okanagan Rockets head coach Make Elder. “She is a true leader both on and off the ice.”
The Rockets are off to a hot start with a 4-1-1 record which is good for second in the FMAAA standings. In addition to having a stand-out month with the Rockets, Keca was a member of Team BC that competed at the 2011 Women’s National U18 Championship.
Keca was chosen from a high calibre list of other nominees. The runners up in no particular order are as follows:
- Kootenay Wildcats – Eric MacLean
- Vancouver Fusion – Rachel Budden
- Fraser Valley Phantom – Caitlyn Younger
- Prince George Cougars – Linda Jensen
The Female Midget AAA League was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite Female Midget teams.
