Female Midget AAA League Player of the Month - January

Friday, February 22, 2013

BC Hockey announced February 22, 2013 that Sarah Botter (Salmon Arm, BC) has been named the Female Midget AAA player of the month for January.  Botter scored three (3) goals and had three (3) assists in four (4) games in January.  Through 22 games, the Thompson-Okanagan Rockets currently sit in second place of the FMAAA league standings with a 10-7-5 record.

Botter notched her second hat-trick of the season on January 19, 2013 against the Pacific Ravens.  She currently sits in the top five (5) on the FMAAA leaderboard with 18 points so far this season.

“Sarah is a dedicated player who has not missed an ice session all season,” said Rockets Head Coach Mark Elder.  “She has great work ethic and has worked very hard on further developing her skills.”

She spends some of her free time officiating minor hockey games, while maintaining good marks in school. Sarah had the opportunity to officiate at the 2012 BC Winter Games.

Sarah was chosen from a high calibre list of other nominees, including:
·  Laticia Castillo (Fraser Valley Phantom)
·  Jocelyn Forrest (Northern Cougars)
·  Nicole Howlett (Pacific Ravens)

The Female Midget AAA League was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite Female Midget teams.
