Game 1 and 2 Update of the FMAAA Championship

Saturday, March 21, 2015

The 2014-15 Female Midget AAA League Championship series is underway in Prince George, BC with the Northern Cougars taking on the Fraser Valley Phantom.  The best of three series will determine the League Champion and who will represent BC in the Pacific Midget Regional Championship.

Game One (1) Update

The game opened with a tentative start from each team, but it quickly wore off.  The Cougars struck first mid-way through the first period with a marker from Madison Fjellstrom.  The second period saw a parade to the penalty box with the teams exchanging power play opportunities, but Kelsey Roberts from the Cougars and Danielle Wierenga were sensational in net and the scored remaining 1-0.

Midway through the third period the Phantom were finally able to get on the scoresheet with a blast from Mikayla Ogrodnicuk.  The score remained tied and overtime was needed to determine a winner.  The first overtime settled nothing as Roberts and Wierenga continued to make top notch saves.  The hero for Fraser Valley was Taygen Rosner scoring the game winning goal at 12:41 of the second overtime.

Game Two (2) Update

The opening frame saw fast paced and exciting end to end action.  The Cougars Kelsey Roberts and the Phantom’s Morgan Symington were sensational in net and kept the score 0-0 heading into the second period.  The second period was another tight checking frame with the goaltenders playing stellar backstopping it to another scoreless frame. Again in the third period the goaltenders stole the show and an overtime period was needed to decide the winner.  The first and second overtime settled nothing and at 5:01 of the third overtime, Save Desjardins scored to give the Cougars the 1-0 game two (2) win.
