The Thompson-Okanagan Rockets captured the 2009-10 Female Midget Championship this past weekend with an 8-2 win over the Kootenay Wildcats. The Rockets will now host the winner of the Alberta Female Midget AAA League to determine the Pacific Region’s representative for the ESSO Cup - National Female Midget National Championship.
The Rockets had a strong balanced scoring attack against the Wildcats in the Championship game. Julie McKinnon (Kelowna, BC) and Karoline Huber (Kelowna, BC) each finished with two (2) goals and Alyssa Reid (Kamloops, BC), Alex Gowie (Vernon, BC), Stephanie Schaupmeyer (Kelowna, BC) and Nikola Brown-John (Kamloops, BC) added a goal.
Lindsay Audia (Trail, BC) capped off a strong Championship with two (2) goals bringing her Championship total to 15 points – six (6) goals and nine (9) assists.

The Female Midget AAA League was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite Female Midget teams.
