Block Named October FMAAA Player of the Month
Thursday, November 08, 2018

BC Hockey announced that Anika Block of the Vancouver Island Seals has been named the Female Midget AAA League (FMAAA) Player of the Month for October 2018. The forward from Victoria, BC, tallied four goals (4) goals and one (1) assist for five (5) points in six (6) games to start the season. She is second among Seals players in scoring this season. Block had three (3) game-winning goals and a game-tying goal in October and has led the Seals to a strong start.

Anika is the only player on the Seals who has taken on a billet player this year, welcoming her teammate and friend from Port Hardy, Tianna Walkus, to her home.

Anika was chosen from a high-calibre list of other nominees, including:

The FMAAA was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite female Midget teams. The league has had over 100 players move on to post-secondary hockey opportunities.
