Team BC snapped their six (6) game winning streak at the Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup with a 3-2 overtime loss to Team Alberta. Team BC finished the round robin with a 2-1 record and will advance to the Gold Medal game with a rematch against Team Alberta. The event runs October 31 – November 3, 2013 at Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary, Alberta.
Team Alberta opened the scoring the first period to take the early advantage. After a scoreless second period, Alberta added to their lead with a goal six (6) minutes into the frame. Team BC showed resilience and scored a pair of goals minutes apart to tie the game at two (2). Goal scorers for Team BC were Tyson Jost (Kelowna, BC) and Dante Fabbro (Whistler, BC). The game needed overtime and Alberta scored at the 4:17 mark to skate away with the 3-2 victory.
Daniel Toews (Kamloops, BC) stopped 39 of 42 shots for Team BC.

Team BC’s next match-up will be against Team Alberta with puck drop at 10:00 am PST on November 2, 2013.

The exciting annual event is held through a partnership with the WHL and BC Hockey, Hockey Alberta, Hockey Manitoba, and the Saskatchewan Hockey Association.
