Valley West Hawks vs. Greater Vancouver Canadians

Valley West finally had their home opener at the Langley Events Centre Saturday night, and they wasted no time getting comfortable. Greater Vancouver opened the scoring with a goal from Nick Marsh 7 minutes into the first period, but Valley West went on to score four (4) unanswered goals (Ben Evanish, Armahn Sidhu, Josh Bruce, and Luka Burzan) to nab a 4-1 win. The second game was played in Richmond, but the Hawks were still able to prevail. The game was tied 2-2 late in the third period (Matheson Kroeker and Scott Atkinson scored for Greater Vancouver, while Christian Bosa and Evanish scored for Valley West) but the Hawks’ Colten Gerlib scored with just 2:11 left on the clock to seal the win for Valley West.
Fraser Valley Thunderbirds vs. Vancouver North West Giants

The Giants got off to a quick start on Saturday, with Mitchell Williams scoring just over a minute into the game. Fraser Valley’s Logan Hunter responded late in the first to make it 1-1, but it was all Vancouver NW from there thanks to goals from Williams, Kevin Wong, and Carter Stephenson. The Thunderbirds responded in Game 2, winning 3-2 thanks to goals from Jonathan Stein, Kaelen Anderson, and Hunter. Justin Wilson and Wong scored for the Giants.
North Island Silvertips vs. Cariboo Cougars

North Island 2, Cariboo 7
Cariboo travelled to the Island to face the Silvertips in Nanaimo, and came away with two (2) wins. In Game 1, the Cougars blanked the ‘Tips, with Tyler Maser and Josh Maser scoring to make it 2-0. In Game 2, North Island got goals from Dawson Heathcote and Brett Kinley, but it wasn’t enough to withstand the Cougars’ offensive flurry – J. Maser (2), Jeremy Gervais, Daine Dubois, Colton Thomas, Chase Dubois, and Jesse Pomeroy scored for Cariboo to make it 7-2.
South Island Royals vs. Okanagan Rockets

South Island 3, Okanagan 2
The Royals welcomed the Rockets to Victoria over the weekend, but the warm welcome didn’t last long. The Royals scored four (4) goals in their first outing thanks to the efforts of Jordan Guiney (2), Jake Wilhelm, and Brandon McClintick. Chase Stevenson scored Okanagan’s lone goal. Game 2 was a closer contest, but the Royals still prevailed thanks to goals from Tyler Pang and Sean Strange (2).
Vancouver North East Chiefs vs. Kootenay Ice

Vancouver NE 4, Kootenay 1
Vancouver NE found their offense in Game 1, scoring seven (7) goals over Kootenay. Hayden Delorme (2), Nicholas Bucovaz, Liam Everson, Marcus Murdock, and Brett Didyk scored for the Chiefs, while Tommy McConnachie (2) and Hunter Floris scored for the Ice to make it 7-3. The Chiefs blanked the Ice in Game 2, with Murdock, Liam Ryan, Ian MacDonald, and Logan Bromhead scoring.
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
