MML Recap – Week 3

The 2016-2017 MML season is in full swing as the teams played over the Thanksgiving weekend. Catch up on all the scores with the Week 3 recap.
 
Okanagan Rockets vs. Vancouver NW Giants
Game 1: Okanagan 8, Vancouver NW 5
Game 2: Okanagan 5, Vancouver NW 2
Okanagan got another chance to show off their offense this weekend, this time against the visiting Giants. In Game 1, Dylan Prpich (2), Hayden Courtney, Eli Zummack, Wyatt Head, Mitchell Gove, Max Kryski, and Ryaman Bassi scored in the winning effort, while Marcus Van der Made, Logan Doust, Zach Bolton, Aiden Kosub, and Matteo Pecchia scored for the Giants. In Game 2, Zummack, Bassi, Head, Kryski, and Jeffrey Karpowich scored for the Rockets, while Doust and Liam Kindree scored for the Giants.
 
Cariboo Cougars vs. Valley West Hawks
Game 1: Valley West 8, Cariboo 0
Game 2: Cariboo 4, Valley West 3
Saturday’s game was one the Cougars would wish to forget, as the Hawks beat them 8-0. Reece Klassen earned the shutout for the Hawks as Jarret Raymond, Justyn Gurney, Sahvan Gill, Calder Newson, Tyler Ho, Jonas Leas, Kabir Gill, and Brayden Wick scored. Cariboo bounced back to earn the win in Game 2, forcing overtime to beat the Hawks. Ho (2) and Leas scored for the Hawks, while Mason Richey, Hunter Floris, Craig MacDonald, and Daine Dubois lifted the Cougars to victory.
 
Greater Vancouver Canadians vs. Kootenay Ice
Game 1: Greater Vancouver 5, Kootenay 3
Game 2: Greater Vancouver 6, Kootenay 1
Greater Vancouver swept the Ice at home this weekend. In Game 1, Scott Atkinson (2), Ben Landon, Henry Rybinski, and Chris Douglas scored for the Canadians, while Owen Titus, Ethan Jang, and Erik Delaire scored for the Ice. In Game 2, Tommy McConnachie scored the lone goal for the Ice, while Atkinson (2), Douglas, Rybinski, Michael Araki-Young, and Emerson Kostner scored for the Canadians.
 
Thompson Blazers vs. Vancouver NE Chiefs
Game 1: Vancouver NE 13, Thompson 1
Game 2: Vancouver NE 5, Thompson 1
The Chiefs let loose in Game 1, posting 13 goals on the Blazers. Seven different players found the back of the net – Ethan Leyh (4), Jessie Young (2), Sho Takai (2), Haydn Delorme (2), Zackery Dallazanna, Christian Buono, and Liam Ryan scored for the Chiefs, while Jett Saharchuk scored the lone goal for the Blazers. Delorme, Leyh, Logan Bromhead (2), and Liam Evanson scored for the Chiefs in Game 2, while Kaden Dempsey scored for the Blazers.
 
North Island Silvertips vs. Fraser Valley Thunderbirds
Game 1: Fraser Valley 4, North Island 0
Game 2: Fraser Valley 4, North Island 0
The ‘Tips and ‘Birds played a rare Sunday/Monday matchup this weekend, with Fraser Valley taking both games with a 4-0 score. Chad Cromar and Boston Bilous both got shut outs, as Jonathan Rees, Harkirat Gill, Dawson Penner, and Blake Bonnar scored in Game 1 and Rees, Bonnar, Nowel Maarhuis, and Brodi Stuart scored in Game 2.
 
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
