The Valley West Hawks of the BC Major Midget League (MML) are pleased to announce that Stefan Burzan (Surrey) has been named the team’s new general manager.
Burzan takes over the general manager role following Rob Evers (Langley) move from general manager to head coach. Burzan has played in the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL), Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL), British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) and Western Hockey League (WHL). Following his time playing Junior hockey, he spent time working in a hockey agency and he is currently a business student at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).
"I am very excited to be joining the Valley West Hawks, a team that has been successful in developing players for the next level,” said Burzan. “I am looking forward to working with the coaching staff, players, and parents to build on the identity the Hawks have in the MML."
In addition to Burzan and Evers, the remaining staff of the Valley West Hawks include assistant coaches Kyle Spencer (Surrey) and Guido Lamberti-Charles (Surrey) along with athletic therapist Yasmine Jutt (Delta).
The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
