Second 2017-2018 Major Midget League Showcase to be Held in Kelowna

The Major Midget League (MML) will host their second league showcase from Friday January 12 to Sunday January 14, 2018 at the Capital News Centre in Kelowna. All 11 MML teams will be in action over the weekend. The Kootenay Ice will play the Everett Elite Silvertips in a pair of exhibition games at the event. The Silvertips play in the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL).

MML Schedule

The showcase is a chance for all teams to play in one (1) location. The first Showcase Weekend was played at the Richmond Oval September 29 – October 1, 2017. All games, expect for the Kootenay-Everett contests count in the MML standings.

The MML Championship winner will compete against the Alberta champion in the Pacific Regional Championship for a chance to play in the 2018 TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship being held in Sudbury, Ontario April 23-29, 2018.

The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year-old players an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
