BC Hockey announced today the rosters for the 2010 Major Midget League All Star Game. The All Star Game will be held in Kelowna, BC at the Memorial Arena on Friday, January 15, 2010.
Forty players (12 defensemen, 24 forwards and 4 goaltenders) have been selected, with at least one (1) player representing each of the 11 Major Midget League teams. Players were evaluated on their on-ice and off-ice performance by the All Star Game selection committee.
Some notable Major Midget League graduates who have competed in the All Star Game include:
- Colten Teubert of the Regina Pats and LA Kings (2006)
- Martin Jones of the Calgary Hitmen and LA Kings(2006)
- Stefan Elliott of the Saskatoon Blades and Colorado Avalanche (Team White 2007)
- Evander Kane of the Atlanta Thrashers (Team White 2007)
- Landon Ferraro of the Red Deer Rebels and Detroit Red Wings (Team Blue 2008)
- Jordan Weal of the Regina Pats (Team Blue 2008)
- Brett Connolly of the Prince George Cougars (Team White 2008)
- Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of the Red Deer Rebels (Team White 2009)
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
