2016-2017 Major Midget League All-Star Team

BC Hockey announced the Major Midget League (MML) All-Star Team for the 2016-2017 season. Members of the all-star teams were voted on by MML team staff.

Matthews led the MML with 21 wins, three (3) more than the next goaltender in the league. He finished second in league with 1.81 GAA and helped the Chiefs to a 32-5-0-3 season.

Gervais was the top scoring defenceman in the MML, scoring 49 points (15G, 34A) in 37 games. He was third on team scoring for the Cougars and tied for tenth overall in league scoring.

Sheardown was a point-per-game player tallying 40 points (17G,23A) in 40 games. He was the top goal-scoring rear-guard in the MML and was the top-scoring defenceman for the Vancouver North East Chiefs.

Atkinson finished a point behind the league leads and led the MML in goals with 38, also adding 28 assists for 66 points. He led Greater Vancouver in scoring and helped them to the league final.

Leyh was the top point-per-game player as he finished the season with 64 Points (31G, 33A) in 34 games for the Chiefs. He was only one (1) of three (3) MML players with over 30 goals on the season.

Kindree tied for the league scoring title with 67 points (28G, 39A) for the Giants. He was involved on an incredible 44 percent of the goals scored by the Giants during the 2016-2017 season.

The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship, which will take place in Prince George, BC in April 2017.
