BC Hockey Female Jamborees are exclusive events for BC Hockey registered female players (Ages 7-13 recommended). The Jamborees were designed as "grass roots" development programs for females already playing the game as well as for those girls who would like to try playing for the first time.
The events create non-competitive atmospheres, which allow the participants to have fun and play with other girls with similar ability and experience from around the province.
The BC Hockey Jamborees stress sportsmanship, fair play, and respect for fellow players, coaches and officials.
BC Hockey developed the Jamboree program in 1975 and has been running the event across the province ever since. The program was originally developed for Pee Wee-aged players in BC, but just as the game has evolved over the years, so has the Jamboree program.
The purpose of the Female Jamboree is to offer female player’s of BC Hockey membership an opportunity to experience a unique program focusing on the celebration and promotion of participation in female hockey. The Jamborees are NOT highly competitive tournaments. All players’ receive equal ice time and the emphasis is on fair play and sportsmanship.
BC Hockey will host two (2) Female Jamboree’s annually. In order to create a fair opportunity for all willing participants, it is recommended that one event be held in Northern BC and the other in the Lower Mainland. Both Jamborees will be run in partnership with the

Chevy Safe & Fun
The Chevy Safe & Fun Program is aimed at hockey players age 5-8 and their coaches and parents. It is a free event that emphasizes respect and responsibility while teaching basic skills and concepts of the game.
The program consists of a one-day event with both on and off ice activities. Parents are encouraged to attend the jamboree and participate in “A Parent’s Approach” seminar which is conducted by a BC Hockey Course Concoctor.
Bobby Orr, Mike Bossy and Cassie Campbell are program spokespeople and they work with Hockey Canada to help encourage and educate the young hockey families through the Chevy Safe & Fun program.
The Chevy Safe & Fun jamborees are run by minor hockey associations and each jamboree is sponsored by a local Chevrolet dealer. As such the minor hockey association host is required to include the dealership in all aspects of the day’s events.
To host a Chevy Safe and Fun event, minor hockey associations must submit an application to BC Hockey. Once approved, BC Hockey and Hockey Canada support the program by providing program material, promotional material, participant certificates, jerseys and financial support for the event. Applications can be found on the BC Hockey website each fall.
