The BC Hockey Male Under 16 Provincial Camp is underway in Penticton, BC at the South Okanagan Event Centre. The five (5) day camp will include on and off-ice activities, and will introduce high performance athletes to the most up to date information and concepts as they relate to both National and International levels of hockey.
Day Three (3) was a hot day in Penticton, BC; this was perfect as the players were given some much deserved down time during the day at Lake Okanagan. All teams practiced for a third time in the morning and early afternoon. Games three (3) and four (4) were played Saturday evening.

Chase Lang’s goal with 24 seconds vaulted the now 2-0 Canucks past Team Stars. Ryan Gropp chipped in 2 goals in a losing cause.

Team Flyers jumped out to an early lead with 2 goals from Lien Miller-Jeanotte and 1 from Francis Bamford. Team Bruins chipped away and took a 4-3 lead in to the 3rd period. Matt Painchaud’s goal early in the 3rd tied the game at four (4).

The 70 players invited to attend the camp were selected based on performances at the U16 BC Cup that was held in Kamloops, BC from April 27 – May 1, 2011. Based on performance at the Provincial Camp, 20 players will be selected to Team BC which will compete at the Western Branch Challenge in Moose Jaw, SK from October 28-31, 2011.
The BC Hockey High Performance Under 16 Program is designed as an introduction to BC Hockey’s High Performance Program, exposing players, coaches and officials to short term competition. The U16 Program also acts as a precursor to the BC Hockey High Performance U17 Program, which is used to identify and train players and team personnel for Provincial, Regional and National Teams.
