BC Hockey announced July 20, 2011 the 41 players selected to attend the 2011 Male Under 17 Provincial Camp being held in Salmon Arm, BC from July 24 - 27, 2011.
Selections for the Provincial Camp were made based on player’s performances at the U17 BC Cup that was held in Salmon Arm. BC from May 11 – 15, 2011.
Following the Provincial Camp, a short list of the top players from BC will continue to be evaluated with their club teams until mid November. From this list the top players from BC will be selected to join the top players from Alberta to form Team Pacific.
Some notable BC Hockey Male High Performance graduates who have competed in the Program include:
·         Duncan Keith of the Chicago Blackhawks (Team Okanagan 2000)
·         Brent Seabrook of the Chicago Blackhawks  (Team Greater Vancouver 2001)
·         Karl Alzner of the Washington Capitals (Team Greater Vancouver 2004)
·         Brett Connolly of the Prince George Cougars (Team North East 2007)
The BC Hockey Male Under 17 High Performance Program is an introduction to International High Performance Hockey, which involves a series of short term camps and competitions just as our national teams are exposed to it at a higher level. In addition, the Under 17 program is a pre-cursor to the well-established Hockey Canada Program of Excellence, consisting of Canada’s Under 18, World Junior and Men’s National Teams.
