2011 Male U17 Provincial Camp Day 2
Tuesday, July 26, 2011

The 2011 Male U17 Provincial Camp is currently underway in Salmon Arm, BC. The Camp is being held at the Sunwave Centre from July 24-27, 2011.

The evaluation staff along with the Team Pacific coaching staff continued the process of evaluating players that will make up the short list of players from BC. After breakfast, Team Canucks and Team Bruins were put through a 60 minute practice by their respective coaching staffs.

The competition for the Ted Hargreaves Cup officially got underway on Monday evening and Team Canucks earned a 3-2 shootout victory over Team Bruins. The Canucks jumped out to a 2-0 lead with markers from Curtis Lazar and Nic Petan. Before the second period was over the Bruin’s Riley Hunt made it a one (1) goal game. Early in the third period Sam Reinhart tied the game at two (2) for the Bruins. In the shootout the Canucks would get goals from Chase Witala and Nic Petan to prevail 2-0.

“I think the camp has been extremely well run and I’m certainly happy with what I saw from this BC group,” commented Team Pacific head coach Michael Dyck.

The BC Hockey Male Under 17 High Performance Program is an introduction to International High Performance Hockey, which involves a series of short term camps and competitions just as our national team are exposed to it at a higher level. In addition, the Under 17 program is a pre-cursor to the well established Hockey Canada Program of Excellence, consisting of Canada’s U18, World Junior and Men’s National Teams.
