BC Hockey announced Thursday, September 20, 2012 that the rosters for the BC Major Midget League have been posted. The Major Midget League regular season officially gets underway Saturday, September 22, 2012 with 10 games scheduled over the weekend.
The 11 team league plays a 40 game regular season with each team playing a two (2) game home and away series against every team in the League. The games are played on Saturday and Sunday of each weekend with a two (2) week break for the Christmas Holidays. The opening weekend will see:
· Vancouver North West Giants at South Island Royals
· North Island Silvertips at Kootenay Ice
· Fraser Valley Thunderbirds at Cariboo Cougars
· Valley West Hawks at Kamloops Blazers
· Vancouver North East Chiefs at Okanagan Rockets
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
