BC Hockey announced September 27, 2012 the call for 2013 BC Hockey High Performance Program host bid applications.  Minor Hockey Association and recreation facilities are encouraged to bid on these prestigious events.  The deadline to submit an application for to the BC Hockey office is Friday, October 12, 2012.

BC Hockey’s High Performance Program has established regional camps and the BC Cups as key components in the identification and development for the next top male and female players in BC and Canada.

 

Applications are being accepted for the following events:

The Male U16 BC Cup will host the most talented 15 year old players in BC, and prepare them for the next step in their developmental process.  One hundred-sixty (160) players, selected from the U16 Regional Camps, are selected to participate in the U16 BC Cup.  It is a jamboree style tournament meaning all the players are mixed to make eight (8) teams.

The five (5) day camp will include on and off-ice activities, introducing high performance athletes to the most up to date information and concepts as they relate to both National and International levels of hockey.  Players from the U16 BC Cup are chosen to attend this camp.

The BC Hockey Male U17 High Performance Program is an introduction to International High Performance Hockey. In addition, the U17 program is a pre-cursor to the well-established Hockey Canada Program of Excellence, consisting Canada’s Under 18, World Junior and Men’s National Teams.  Players are selected from regional camps to attend the U17 BC Cup.

The U16 level of the Female High Performance Program has been established to introduce eligible athletes to high performance hockey focusing on both on and off-ice aspects of the game.  The U16 BC Cup consists of the top 120 players playing throughout BC and the Yukon.

Female U18 players will be evaluated throughout the 2012-2013 Season. The top 80 players will be invited to the 2013 U18 BC Cup. The U18 BC Cup is the first stage of the Female U18 High Performance Program. Successful players will be invited to continue on in the Team BC selection process. The Female U18 Team BC participates at the Women’s National Under 18 Championships.
