Micah Hart  #4 (aka Mikes)
Position: Defense
Birthdate: 1996-13-01
Hometown: Victoria, BC
Peninsula Minor Hockey Association

BC: Who has had the most influence on your hockey career, and why?
M: My mother.  She always made sure that I played on the best team I could and made it possible for me to get the opportunities I have been given.  She has always supported me in whatever or wherever I wanted to play.

BC: What is your first memory of playing hockey or skating?
M: Playing at GM place during the Canucks intermission with my initiation team.  That was one of the best experiences of my life.

BC: What was your most memorable hockey moment?
M: Making U18 Team BC.

BC: Who was your favorite minor hockey coach?
M: Wayne Hopkins.  He never coached me at Peninsula, but he gave me the opportunity to play on the Island Stars AAA Boys’ spring hockey team both of my atom years.  He never cared that I was the only girl on the team.  He pushed me just as hard as every other player.  He challenged me every practice and every game and encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone to improve my game.  He taught me so many things both on and off the ice.

BC: What would it mean to you to win the National Women’s U18 Championship?
M: It would mean the world to me.  It would encourage young girls to join the sport and also prove to the rest of the country that BC is not the underdog anymore.

BC: What one word describes you on the ice?  Off the ice?
M: On the ice, poised.  Off the ice, quiet leader.

BC: Fave female athete?
M: Coleen Sostorics

BC: Fave road arena?
M: Kerry Park
BC: Role models?
M: My brother Benn

BC: Fave movie?
M: Bridesmaids
BC: Fave song?
M: Live Like You Were Dying – Tim McGraw
BC: Fave candy bar?
M: Kit-Kat

BC: Do you have any superstitions?
M: I always have to tie my left skate first.

BC: What do you consider your strongest hockey skill?  How did you develop it?
M: I would say that being a stay at home defenseman and my skating.  I’m just not the fastest skater but I owe my stride to Jeff Birrell.  Being a stay at home defenseman just came naturally at a young age.

BC: What are a few other random facts about you?
M: I love listening to music.  I love to talk.  If I wasn’t dedicated to hockey, I would love to go far in basketball.  I love reading.  I love just throwing around a Frisbee or a football or kicking a soccer ball around.
