Major Midget League Player of the Month - November
Friday, December 07, 2012

BC Hockey announced December 7, 2012 that Nathan Warren (Prince George, BC) has been named the Major Midget League Player of the Month for November.  In six (6) games played in November, Warren posted a 5-1 record with an outstanding 0.83 goals against average (GAA).

Warren set a new BC Major Midget Hockey League record with four (4) consecutive shutouts, all of which were on the road.  The Cougars currently sit in third place with a 15-5-0 record.

“In his second year with the Cariboo Cougars, Nathan has stepped up as a true leader on the team,” commented head coach Trevor Sprague.  “As the veteran netminder, he works closely with our younger goalie having developed an excellent personal and working relationship helping both improve their games.  Nathan has also helped guide the younger players on the team showing by example what it takes to be a Cariboo Cougar.”

Warren recently took part in a minor hockey mentorship day where he worked with younger goaltenders during the Cougars bye week.  He also assisted in a local goaltending camp helping coach and lead drills.

As well as being named Player of the Month, Warren will receive an exclusive gift from Easton on his selection.  He was chosen from a high calibre list of nominees for this prestigious award.  The runners up in no particular order are as follows:

  • Curtis McCarrick (North Island Silvertips)
  • Cole Todd (Vancouver North West Giants)
  • Francis Bamford (Fraser Valley Thunderbirds)
  • Adam Musil (Greater Vancouver Canadians)
  • Jakob Stukel ( Valley West Hawks)
  • Brandon Sookro (Kootenay Ice)
  • Tim Chow (Vancouver North East Chiefs)
  • Josh Blanchard (Okangan Rockets)
  • Jordan Martin (South Island Royals)
  • Kyle Michalovsky (Thompson Blazers)

The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group.  Playing at this high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
