Special Programs are those programs and projects that are:
- Available on a limited basis such as those that may be tied to events like the World Junior Championships or Olympics.
- Initiatives that are in various developmental stages as pilots that may eventually become standard BC Hockey program options. A good example is the Parent Education program that is in developmental stages in cooperation with Hockey Canada. It is hoped that this type of program will eventually be standard fare for BC Hockey members.
- Projects dependent on cooperative alliances formed with other organizations. One example is the BC Hockey in Our Schools program that is dependent on relations with BC Schools. Here BC Hockey is the technical resource for school based instruction in our sport.

BC Hockey is a non-profit organization and member of Hockey Canada in charge of governing amateur hockey at all levels in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.
Approximately 150 minor hockey associations, 55,000 players, 4,500 referees, 20,000 official volunteers and countless others make our great game possible here in Pacific Canada.
