  WORLD GIRLS HOCKEY WEEKEND

Jamborees

BC Hockey Female Jamborees are one of the premier events offered to female players aged 5-12. The grassroots development program is geared towards females already playing the game, as well as those starting out. The event creates a non-competitive atmosphere which allows the participants to have fun and play with other girls with similar abilities and experience from around the province.

BC Hockey Female Jamborees stress sportsmanship, fair play, and respect for fellow players, coaches and officials. Players are placed onto teams based on age and ability and compete in skills sessions and games, as well as off-ice activities.

The purpose of the jamborees is to offer female players of BC Hockey membership an opportunity to experience a unique program focusing on the celebration and promotion of participation in female hockey.  The jamborees are NOT highly competitive tournaments.  All players receive equal ice time and the emphasis is on fair play and sportsmanship.

BC Hockey developed the Female Jamboree program in 1975 and has been running the event across the province ever since. The program was originally developed for Pee Wee-aged players in BC, but just as the game has evolved over the years, so has the Female Jamboree program.

Canadian Tire First Shift

The Canadian Tire First Shift program is designed to ensure a positive experience for new-to-hockey families. We want families to experience the game at its best - to understand why so many Canadians feel an inherent love for the sport, and to stimulate a desire for continued participation.  We want to take away any intimidation as it relates to equipment requirements, and/or rules of the game, remove potential safety concerns, and most importantly, provide an experience that is memorable and fun.
