March sure came in like a lion for the Hunt family of Nelson, BC. First, Reece won bronze with Team BC at the Canada Winter Games and a week later older brother Dryden netted his first National Hockey League (NHL) goal. Huge milestones in their hockey careers.

Team BC edged Team Ontario 5 - 4 in an exciting nail biter on May 2, 2019 to claim bronze, the first medal for Team BC at the Canada Winter Games since 1991. Reece picked up a pair of assists at the tournament. She played this season on the Okanagan Hockey Academy Midget Prep team.

Dryden played Pee Wee and Bantam Prep hockey with Nelson MHA and played a season with the Kootenay Ice of the BC Major Midget League before joining the Regina Pats. He finished his WHL career with half a season in Medicine Hat and a full season with the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Interesting tidbit: Greg Adams, who played 1,056 career NHL games, was the last Nelson native to score in the NHL during his final season with the Panthers in 2001.

BC Hockey is a non-profit organization and member of Hockey Canada in charge of governing amateur hockey at all levels in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.
