Justin Fillion Named Northern Capitals Head Coach
Tuesday, May 29, 2018

Justin Fillion (Prince George) has been named the new head coach of the Northern Capitals of the Female Midget AAA (FMAAA) league.

Fillion joins the Capitals after serving as an assistant coach with the Cariboo Cougars of the Major Midget League (MML) last season and has been involved with the Prince George Minor Hockey Association (MHA) as a coach lead and as a head coach. Justin has worked with School District 57 in Prince George in the Aboriginal Development Centre leading on and off-ice activities.

Fillion played with the British Columbia Hockey League’s (BCHL) Prince George Spruce Kings before earning a scholarship to Michigan Technological University. He played one (1) professional hockey season with the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) in 2014-2015.

The FMAAA program consists of five (5) teams across the province – the Fraser Valley Rush (Langley), Greater Vancouver Comets (Coquitlam), Northern Capitals (Prince George), Thompson-Okanagan Lakers (Vernon), and Vancouver Island Seals. The teams play a 30 game regular season, followed by the playoffs. The FMAAA Champion has the opportunity to compete for the ESSO Cup, Hockey Canada's National Female Midget Championship.
