Minor hockey describes amateur hockey played by athletes 20 years old and younger. Players are generally divided into playing levels according to age.

Championships are held annually for Pee Wee, Bantam, Midget and Juvenile teams. Individual teams participating in each championship are district winners.
BC Hockey also administers a number of youth programs throughout the hockey season. Minor recreational programs are programs aimed at minor hockey players that are in addition to their regular teams and practices. Some of these programs are aimed at athletes new to the game, while there are some intended for those already involved in hockey and can promote fun, skill development or both.
