Vancouver North West Giants Major Midget Champions

The Vancouver North West Giants captured their third consecutive Major Midget League Championship March 19, 2011 with a 6-2 win over the Cariboo Cougars in game two (2) of the best-of-three series. The Championship series was played at the Burnaby Winter Club.
Game One (1): Giants 4 – Cougars 3
Game Two (2): Giants 6 – Cougars 2
Sam Reinhart (West Vancouver, BC) and Alex Kerfoot (West Vancouver, BC) led the way for the Giants; factoring in all but one (1) of the Giant’s goals in the Championship series. Reinhart finished with seven (7) points (5 goals and 2 assists) and Kerfoot finished with eight (8) points (3 goals and 5 assists).
The Giants will now wait to see who they will play from the Alberta Midget AAA League. The Championship series is currently underway with the Red Deer Optimist Rebels taking on the Leduc Chrysler Oil Kings.   BC Hockey is set to host the 2011 Pacific Midget Regionals. The game time and location will be announced once confirmed.
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group.  Playing at this high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
