Female Midget AAA League Player of the Month - December
Friday, January 18, 2013
BC Hockey announced January 17, 2013 that Emily Jude (Pitt Meadows) has been named the Female Midget AAA player of the month for December.  Jude recorded three (3) goals and one (1) assist in four (4) games during December for the Pacific Ravens.  Through 16 games, the Ravens sit in the middle of the FMAAA league standings with a 6-7-3 record.
Emily is part of the Ravens mentoring program where she volunteers to assist younger players with their hockey development.  She is also a minor hockey official and a BC Hockey camp volunteer coach.
“Emily is a senior player on our team and does everything asked of her both on and off the ice,” said team assistant coach Perry Denure.  “Her outstanding work ethic, leadership and her versatile ability to play both forward and defense are a few reasons why she is one (1) of our captains.  Emily plays in a very sportsmanlike manner demonstrated by having no penalty minutes this month.”
Earlier this month, at the Mac’s Midget AAA Tournament, Emily showed her toughness, focus and a reason why any college or university program would be proud to have her.  While hunched over in pain and skating to the bench from taking a stick to the chest, she received a pass and made the play to keep the puck in the offensive zone, before skating off and heading to the hospital in an ambulance.
Jude was chosen from a high calibre list of other nominees, including Sarah Botter of the Thompson Okanagan Rockets, the Female Midget AAA third leading scorer.
The Female Midget AAA League was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite Female Midget teams.
