Team Inferno Captures 2014 Female U18 BC Cup
Sunday, April 27, 2014
Team Inferno captured the 2014 Female U18 BC Cup with a 1-0 win over Team Thunder in the Championship game.  The 2014 Female U18 BC Cup was held at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm, BC from April 23-27, 2014.  The top 80 Female U18 players were invited based on season long date and performance with their club teams.
The Championship match-up did not disappoint with an evenly matched game with end to end play.  Mid-way through the period Ava Keis (Quesnel, BC) scored to give the Inferno the lead.  The Stars pressed hard, but were unable to notch the game at one (1).  Earlier in the day, Team Furies skated to a 4-0 win over Team Stars.
The BC Cup is a jamboree format featuring four (4) teams.  The first two (2) days of the event will consist of practices, team building and fitness testing.  The remainder of the weekend will consist of games where players are evaluated on their performance.
The Female U18 BC Cup is the first stage in the formation of Team BC which will participate at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC.  Following the U18 BC Cup, the top players will advance to the U18 Provincial Camp in Lake Cowichan, BC on May 16 - 19, 2014.
BC Hockey’s Female Under 18 level is the third and final stage of the High Performance Program. It is an opportunity for the top players in the Province to train and compete at an elite level and is meant to introduce players to the beginning of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence.
