Northern Cougars Capture 2014-15 Female Midget AAA League Championship

The Northern Cougars captured the 2014-15 Female Midget AAA Championship with a 1-0 win over the Fraser Valley Phantom in game three (3) in Prince George, BC.  The Cougars will now represent BC in the Pacific Midget Regional Championship that will be hosted in Alberta, April 3-5, 2015.


The opening frame saw fast paced and exciting end to end action.  The Cougars Kelsey Roberts and the Phantom’s Danielle Wierenga were continued their strong play and the game remained scoreless heading into the 2nd period.  The Cougars controlled much of the play in the second period, but Wierenga’s stellar kept the score tied.  At 6:58 of the third period Jocelyn Forrest scored to give the Cougars the 1-0 lead.  The Cougars held on for the rest of the period to capture the League Championship.


Game One (1) and Two (2) Update


The Pacific Regional Championship will take place in Alberta on April 3 - 5, 2015, where the BC FMAAA champion will face the Alberta AAA Midget Hockey League champion in a best-of-three (3) series to determine the Pacific Representative at the 2015 ESSO Cup, which will be held in Red Deer, Alberta.


The Female Midget AAA League was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite Female Midget teams.
