MML Championship Preview

The Major Midget League (MML) Championship series is set, with the Valley West Hawks and Cariboo Cougars set to battle it out for the Cromie Memorial Trophy and a trip to the Pacific Midget Regionals.
#1 Valley West Hawks vs. #2 Cariboo Cougars
Game 1: March 18, 7:00PM, Langley Events Centre
Game 2: March 19, 6:30PM, South Surrey Arena
Game 3: March 20, 12:00PM, Langley Events Centre*

All games will be webcast via PlayFullScreen. Additionally, live scoring will be available on the BC Hockey App for Android and Apple, as well as BC Hockey’s MML Twitter account with the hashtag #MMLFinals.

The #1 Hawks faced the #8 Greater Vancouver Canadians in the quarterfinals, sweeping them in two (2) games in part thanks to a 17-3 goal margin. They then moved on to face the #4 Okanagan Rockets in the semifinals, where they were pushed to three (3) games. Their explosive offense game through, scoring six (6) goals in the series-deciding game to send them to the finals.
The Cariboo Cougars dispatched the #7 South Island Royals in two (2) games in the quarterfinals, scoring 11 goals against their opponent. Facing the #3 Vancouver North West Giants in the semifinals, the Cougars were on their heels after a loss in Game 1. They fought back and won the final two (2) games of the series, earning a trip to the Championship on a goal in double overtime.
The MML champion will take on the champion of the Alberta AAA Midget Hockey League (AMHL) from April 1 – 3, 2016 in the Pacific Midget Regionals for the right to represent the Pacific region at the 2016 TELUS Cup, taking place April 19 – 24, 2016 in Quispamsis, New Brunswick.
The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
