BC Hockey announced that Liam Kindree of the Vancouver North West Giants has been named the Major Midget League (MML) Player of the Month for November 2016. The 5’11” forward from North Vancouver, BC tallied six (6) goals and nine (9) assists for a total of 15 points in just six (6) games in November.
An assistant captain with the Giants, Kindree was selected by the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Kelowna Rockets in the fourth round of the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. At the halfway point of the MML season, Kindree has 33 points (15 goals, 18 assists) in 19 games, good for second in the league in both goals and points.
Kindree was chosen from a high-calibre list of other nominees, including: Zach Wickson (Cariboo Cougars), Boston Bilous (Fraser Valley Thunderbirds), Michael Araki-Young (Greater Vancouver Canadians), Conner Seib (Kootenay Ice), Keaton Mastrodonato (North Island Silvertips), Luke Sheldrake (South Island Royals), Matthew Facchinelli (Thompson Blazers), Nolan Krogfoss (Valley West Hawks), and Ethan Leyh (Vancouver North East Chiefs).
The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
