2008 Team Pacific – Player Replacement
Tuesday, December 11, 2007

Team Pacific defensemen Neil Manning, a Vancouver Giants player of the WHL has been injured and will be unable to participate in the upcoming World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in London Ontario from December 29-Jan 4.  BC Hockey would like to congratulate New Westminster native Matt MacKenzie as he has been named as the replacement.  Matt is currently playing for the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL and will be a welcomed addition for the injured Manning.

Team Pacific is made up of 22 players from British Columbia and Alberta.  The World Under 17 Hockey Challenge is the first step in Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence that continues at the national level with the Under 18 Team and National Junior Team.

BC Hockey has identified, evaluated and trained its 11 players through the BC Hockey Male High Performance Program, which acts as the province’s talent identification and training program for player representation on Canada’s national teams. Alberta’s 11 players were selected and prepared through the Team Alberta Program.  Staff for Team Pacific was determined through an application and review process led by BC Hockey Officer at Large Shannon Bell.

BC Hockey High Performance Coach Russ Weber will act as Assistant Coach for Team Pacific as they compete against four Canadian teams (Western, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic) as well as five international teams (Russia, USA, Slovakia, Germany and Finland). BC’s Cory Cameron will be in charge of athletic therapy.
