South Island Thunderbirds Win Richmond Tournament
Friday, January 4, 2008

BC Hockey Major Midget League’s own South Island Thunderbirds have won the 27th Annual Richmond International Midget Hockey Tournament at Minoru Park’s Stadium Arena in Richmond, BC.  The Thunderbirds were one of 60 teams competing for the gold medal over the past week.

The South Island Thunderbirds played off against the Valley West Hawks, also one of the BC Hockey Major Midget League teams, in an intense final game.  The Thunderbirds came out on top with a 2-1 victory over the rival Hawks.  Chase Kaiser, a forward with the South Island team and Duncan resident, was honored with the tournament’s overall MVP award.

BC Hockey congratulates the South Island Thunderbirds in their remarkable achievements over the past week!
