BC Hockey announced that Trent Thompson of the Thompson Blazers has been named the Major Midget League (MML) Player of the Month for February 2018.
Thompson, a 17-year-old forward from Salmon Arm, BC, helped the Blazers to a 6-1-1 record in the month of February and a spot in the MML playoffs for the first time in 10 seasons. February was the best monthly record in team history for the Blazers. Trent had five (5) goals and five (5) assists for 10 points in eight (8) games in February. On the season, he has 15 goals and 20 assists for 35 points in 36 games, leading the Blazers in goals and second on the team in points.

The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17-year-olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship taking place in Sudbury, Ontario April 23-29, 2018.
