2017-2018 Major Midget League All-Star Team

BC Hockey announced the Major Midget League (MML) All-Star Team for the 2017-2018 season.

The MML All-Star Team is:

Allen led the MML with 32 games played, winning 23 games with the Cougars.  Allen had only four (4) losses, and added three (3) ties, posting a 2.32 goals against average (GAA) in the 2017-2018 campaign.  Allen helped the Cougars to a 30-7-2-1 season.

Isaksson was the top scoring defenceman in the MML, working his way to a point-per-game scoring 36 points (14G, 22A) in 36 games. He was fifth in team scoring for the powerhouse Hawks.

Malgunas finished second in defenseman scoring tallying 33 points (11G, 22A) in 37 games. He was fifth in team scoring for Cariboo, tied for third most assists on the team.

Dent finished sixth in league scoring, and second in points on his team.  Dent had 59 points (24G, 35A) playing all 40 games for the Cariboo Cougars. Dent was also voted MML Player of the Month for December.

Sourdif was the top scorer in the MML this season, finishing the year with 73 points (23G, 50A) in 35 games played.  Sourdif is the youngest player on this All-Star Team, a 2002-born 16-year-old skater.  .

Goncalves finished the season just two (2) points back of the league lead, putting up 71 points (30G, 41A).  Gage was one (1) of only four (4) players to score 30 goals or more in the MML this season.  Goncalves lead his team in assists, and was voted player of the month for November.

Members of the all-star team were voted on by MML team staff.

The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship, which will take place in Sudbury, Ontario, April 23-29, 2018.
