Major Midget League Player of the Month for January
Wednesday, February 6, 2008

BC Hockey is pleased to announce that Tim Daly of the Vancouver North East Chiefs has been selected as the BC Hockey Major Midget League (MML) Player of the Month for January.  Daly, a first year MML defenseman and B plus student potted six goals along with four helpers totaling 10 points in the month of January.  Tim also leads the Chiefs’ plus/minus with a solid plus seven.

“Tim has been our most consistent defenseman.  He plays all game situations and is leading our defense in points as a first year player.  He has a quiet personality, but his leadership excels when the game starts,” stated the Chiefs head coach Doneau Menard.

As player of the month, Daly will receive a gift from Mission-Itech.

Tim Daly was chosen from a high caliber list of other nominees for this prestigious award.  The runners up in no particular order are as follows:

  • Ty Morton – North Island Silvertips
  • Joe Lalegia – Vancouver NW Giants
  • Brandon Anderson – Fraser Valley Bruins
  • Anthony Bardaro – Greater Vancouver Canadians
  • Drew Spencer – Valley West Hawks
  • Sam Mellor – Kootenay Ice
  • Ryan Harrison – Okanagan Rockets
  • Rjay Berra – Cariboo Cougars
  • Jared Sweet – South Island Thunderbirds
  • Spencer Asuchak – Thompson Blazers

The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
