Brian Passmore (Victoria) has been named the inaugural head coach of the South Island Royals’ Minor Midget team.
Passmore has coached at many levels of hockey from minor to Junior. For the 2017-2018 season, he was as the head coach and general manager with the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). He has also spent time in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) with the Westshore Wolves as head coach and Peninsula Panthers as head coach and general manager, winning the league’s Coach of the Year Award. Passmore has also spent time coaching at Shawnigan Lake School serving as the head coach of their Bantam Prep team along with coaching with Saanich Minor Hockey Association (MHA). Passmore has run his own hockey development company on the south island since 2013. He played professional hockey for six (6) seasons following playing in USports with the University of Prince Edward Island.
Passmore joins the Royals staff alongside Sam McMullen (Victoria) who serves as South Island’s general manager and Scott Hawthorne (Victoria) who is the head coach of the Major Midget team.
The BC Hockey Minor Midget League will begin play in 2018-2019 and gives an opportunity for 15-year-old players to develop with other athletes of the same age and is affiliated with the MML.
