Stankoven Named MML Player of the Month
Thursday, November 8, 2018

BC Hockey announced that Logan Stankoven of the Thompson Blazers has been named the Major Midget League (MML) Player of the Month for October 2018.

Stankoven, a 15-year-old forward from Kamloops, BC, helped the Blazers to a 7-5 record to start the season, including a 6-1 record in the last seven (7) games. Stankoven currently leads the MML in goals (17) and points (29) in only 12 games and has registered at least one (1) point in each of the Blazers’ games this season. Stankoven was the highest BC Hockey player selected in the 2018 Western Hockey League (WHL) Bantam Draft to his hometown Kamloops Blazers, fifth overall. In October he suited up for a WHL game, a rare opportunity for a 15-year-old.

Stankoven currently volunteers his time with the Kamloops Minor Hockey Association (MHA) First Shift Program which offers an opportunity for youth to try hockey for the first time.

Stankoven was chosen from a high-calibre list of other nominees, including:

Cody Hough

Cariboo Cougars

Michael Milne

Fraser Valley Thunderbirds

Trevor Wong

Greater Vancouver Canadians

Noah Quinn

Kootenay Ice

Chase Dafoe

Okanagan Rockets

Thomas Vela

South Island Royals

Anton Cizmok

Valley West Giants

The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17-year-olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
