2019 Esso Cup Pacific Regional Championship

The 2019 Pacific Regional Championship is set to get underway on Friday, April 5, 2019, in St. Albert, Alberta.  The best of three (3) matchup sees the Greater Vancouver Comets, BC Hockey’s Female Midget AAA League (FMAAA) champion, against the St. Albert Slash, the Alberta Female Hockey League (AFHL) champion, to determine who represents the Pacific Region at the 2019 Esso Cup. 

The Comets defeated the Fraser Valley Rush in the FMAAA final held in Coquitlam on March 30, 2019.  Greater Vancouver won the first contest 5-3 and beat the Rush in the second game 6-2 to sweep the series.  The Comets had an impeccable season going a perfect 32-0 in the regular season schedule and then 4-0 in the playoffs.

The Slash defeated the Calgary Fire in the AFHL Championship to advance to the Pacific Region Championship. 

For both teams it is the third consecutive year the teams have met Pacific Regional Championship with St. Albert winning the previous two (2) berths in the Esso Cup.

The Slash will host the best of three (3) tournament taking place April 5-7, 2019 at the Akinsdale Arena in St. Albert, Alberta. The game schedule is:

The Esso Cup is the Canadian Female Midget Championship, that sees six (6) of the country’s top teams from five (5) regions; Atlantic, Ontario, Pacific, Quebec and West as well as one (1) host team.  The host team for the 2019 Esso Cup is the Sudbury Lady Wolves in Sudbury, Ontario. This year’s event will be held April 21-27, 2019.
