In 2018, 49 players from BC and the Yukon were selected in the WHL Bantam Draft.

The WHL Bantam Draft is typically held on the first Thursday in May, at which time WHL clubs select players who have graduated from the Bantam age category.

Most of these BC Hockey players competed at the Male U16 BC Cup held April 18-21, 2019 in Salmon Arm.

Sixty (60) BC Hockey athletes will attend the Male U16 Provincial Camp being held July 28 – August 4, 2019 in Shawnigan Lake, BC. This is the next step in the Male Program of Excellence (POE) which will continue to the WHL Cup taking place in October 2019 in Calgary, Alberta.

The BC Hockey Male POE was introduced in 1980 with the mandate to systematically identify and train the BC Hockey’s elite-level players for high performance hockey events. The overall objective of the program is to increase the chances of athletes from BC to compete provincially, regionally, nationally and internationally with the ultimate goal being selected to Hockey Canada’s National Junior or National Senior Team.
