In it's inaugural season, the Major Bantam AAA League is excited that two (2) teams have been invited to the prestigious John Reid Memorial Tournament, January 16 - 19, 2020 in St. Albert, Alberta.
The Greater Vancouver Canadians and Okanagan Rockets were invited to compete in the tournament along with teams from the United States. Saskatchewan and Alberta.
The Rockets currently sit in top spot the Major Bantam AAA League win a 10-0-1-1 record and the Canadians right behind them at 10-2-0-0. Okanagan's Nathan Gossoo (West Kelowna) and Brayden Skogstad (Kelowna) currently lead the league with 20 and 17 points respectively.
"Our team is very excited for the opportunity to compete at such a prestigious tournament against the top programs from across Western North America," said Rob Evers, BC Hockey Okanagan Zone Lead. "We identified at the start of the season that we wanted to attend four (4) or five (5) tournaments and the players and staff have been very focused on that goal and because of their success early on, we will get the chance to play with and against the best of the best at this age level."
"We are very eager to see where we stack up and what work needs to be done after to continue to grow the players and program," added Evers. "The team remains focused on getting better everyday and creating good habits that will help in league, tournaments, moving on to the next level and life outside of the game."
