For Immediate Release
October 19, 2021
Saanichton, B.C. – BC Hockey is excited to announce the roster for our Program of Excellence’s (POE) U18 Female Team BC.
Team BC will compete at the 2021 Western Regional Women’s U18 Championship at Stride Place in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, November 1st - 6th, 2021. The final roster for Team BC consists of two goaltenders, seven defencemen, and 11 forwards from across British Columbia and Yukon. The full roster can be viewed here
“We are extremely pleased to be at this point after all of the uncertainty that has been clouding the U18 Female program,” Commissioner of BC Hockey’s Program of Excellence Fred Zweep said. “There were some very hard decisions that we had to make when trimming this roster down to just 20 players and excited to see them on the ice with the opportunity to play in a meaningful tournament.”
Originally the U18 Female team were to compete in the 2021 National Women’s U18 Championship in Dawson Creek, but that event was cancelled, along with two other fall events, by Hockey Canada.
Team BC will enter the tournament looking to improve on their previous two tournament appearances. They claimed the bronze medal at the 2019 Canada Winter Games back in March 2019 and followed that up by finishing in fifth place at the 2019 National Women’s U18 Championship in November 2019.
Kris Hogg will be the Head Coach of Team BC. Hogg was an assistant coach for Team BC at the 2019 National Women’s U18 Championship. He will be joined by Assistant Coach Amy De Bree, who was also an assistant on the 2019 POE squad. Filling out the coaching staff are Assistant Coach Venla Hovi and Goaltender/Video Coach Eddie Guay.
