Pacific Midget Regional’s set for Next Weekend

The Vancouver North West Giants are set to host the Calgary Buffaloes or Sherwood Park at the Burnaby Winter Club, April 3-5, 2009 for the Pacific Midget Regional’s Championship.  The Giants are fresh off their Major Midget League Championship series win over the Greater Vancouver Canadians.  The winner of the Pacific Midget Regional’s will represent the Pacific at the TELUS Cup the National Midget Championship, April 20-26 in Selkirk, Manitoba.

The following is the schedule for the Pacific Regional’s.

  • Friday, April 3 at 7:00 pm at the Burnaby Winter Club
  • Saturday, April 4 at 7:00 pm at the Burnaby Winter Club
  • Sunday, April 5 at 2:00 pm at the Burnaby Winter Club (if required)

Tickets will be sold for the event at $5 a ticket or $10 for a 3 game pass.  Act quickly and purchase your ticket now or you may miss out on your chance to watch exciting Major Midget action.  To purchase tickets please email with your ticket request and contact information (mailing address, phone number and email address).

The Alberta Midget AAA League has yet to crown their Champion.  Currently the Calgary Buffaloes lead Sherwood Park 2-1 in their best-of-five series.  If Calgary should hold on to win the Championship, the Pacific Regional’s will be a rematch of the Mac’s Tournament Championship game this past January where the Calgary Buffaloes defeated the Vancouver North West Giants 6-5 in double overtime.

The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group.  Playing at this high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
