Gervais Named February Player of the Month
BC Hockey announced that Jeremy Gervais of the Cariboo Cougars has been named the Major Midget League (MML) Player of the Month for February 2017. The 5’10” defenseman from Prince George, BC tallied two (2) goals and eight (8) assists for a total of 10 points in six (6) games last month.

The Major Midget League (MML) announced changes to the operation of the Spring Identification Camps and Prospects Camp, formerly Evaluation Camps, for the 2017 – 2018 season.

Teams are eligible to commit 11 – 18 skaters and two (2) goaltenders from their Spring Identification Camp and those players must be carded within three (3) days from the conclusion of the camp.  Teams will not have any contact with players who did not attend their Spring Identification Camp until the start of the Prospects Camp.

Players who are not committed to a team following the Spring Identification Camp will be invited to attend the Prospects Camp, June 23 – 25, 2017 at the Richmond Olympic Oval.  Players attending this camp will be required to submit a ranked list of teams that he is willing to register with.  Teams will be eligible to submit requests for interview with players during the weekend of the Prospects Camp through BC Hockey.  If multiple requests are made for a player, the team who finished lower in the regular season standings the previous year will have the first opportunity.

Teams are eligible to submit a Residential Waiver request for a player until 10:00am on the final day of camp.  The waiver, if accepted by the player, entitles the team to roster the player for the 2017-2018 season and invite the player to attend the team’s evaluation process.  Should multiple teams request a player, the player will meet with the Male Midget AAA Coordinator to determine his intentions prior to the end of camp.

If a player does not attend the Prospects Camp, the player must meet the following requirements to be eligible to participate in a team’s evaluation:

  • The player’s home zone team must release the player from attending their evaluation process

  • The player may only attend the evaluation process of teams who did not qualify for the playoffs in the previous season.

A registration fee will be charged to players who take part in a team’s evaluation process who did not attend the Prospects Camp.

The cost for players to attend the Prospects Camp is $275 and registration closes on June 22, 2017.
