World Junior A Challenge Kicks Off Today

BC Hockey is pleased to announce that seven players and three staff who make BC their home will be competing with Team West at the World Junior A Challenge this week in Yorkton and Humbold, SK. All Team West games, as well one quarter final game, all semi-final games and the bronze medal game, will be available via webcast free of charge. The gold medal game will be broadcast on TSN / RDS on tape delay on November 18.

 

Team West kicks of the tournament against Russia at 5:30 pm PST today. The webcast can be accessed via Hockey Canada’s website www.hockeycanada.ca free of charge.

 

All selected BC members play or work for the BC Hockey League (BCHL) teams except Head Coach Boris Rybalka who works with the Camrose Kodiaks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). The other staff members from BC are Assistant Coach Bruno Campese (Penticton Vees) and Director of Operations Darcy Rota (Burnaby Express).

 

BC players include defenseman Ryan de Vries (Prince George Spruce Kings) and Damon Kipp (Salmon Arm Silverbacks). Forwards include Tyler McNeely and Kyle Turris, both of the Burnaby Express, Ben Winnett and Riley Nash both of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and Casey Pierro-Zabotel of the Merritt Centennials. Tyler McNeely has been selected as captain of the team.
