2011 Female U18 Team BC Staff Announced

BC Hockey announced May 10, 2011 the Female U18 Team BC staff that will compete at the 2011 Women’s National Under 18 Championship in Saguenay, Quebec from November 2-6, 2011.

Oldenborger has been involved extensively with women’s hockey over the past few years, including three (3) seasons as the assistant coach with the UBC Thunderbirds. He also served as an assistant coach at Hockey Canada’s Under 22 selection camp and as an assistant coach for Team BC at the 2009 Women’s National Under 18 Championship. Oldenborger has over 10 years of coaching experience since being a player in the WHL and is a certified level II coach.
Coates has first-hand experience with women’s hockey as she played competitively for the UBC Thunderbirds before becoming an assistant coach with the team. She was also head coach of the Fraser Valley U16 BC Cup Championship team this year.
Sharun’s hockey experience is both on and off the ice. She played four (4) years Division I at Yale University, and coached the Mid Island Extreme Female Midget A this past year. Sharun joined Team BC at the 2011 Canada Winter Games as an apprentice coach.
Selection for Team BC’s roster will occur at the Female U18 Provincial Camp in Salmon Arm, BC from May 19-23, 2011. The team will come together for the first time as Team BC at the Summer Strength and Conditioning Camp held July 1-3, 2011 and again for a preparation tournament in early September. 
BC Hockey’s Female High Performance Program was established to identify and train athletes and team personnel for possible participation at Provincial, National and International events.
