2011 Hockey Coaches Conference
Wednesday, July 13, 2011

The Coaches Site is pleased to announce that the BC High Performance Program will be showcased at its inaugural Hockey Coaching Conference, thanks to a partnership with BC Hockey.

Representatives from BC Hockey will be on hand to discuss the opportunities and benefits available through the program which helps identify the top players and coaches for Canada’s National Teams.

BC Hockey will also be represented by Tim Kehler. In 2009 Kehler led Team Pacific to a Silver medal at the World U-17 Championships and has extensive experience with the High Performance Program. On Friday July 29th, Tim will give a presentation on his progression through the program and the opportunities it has afforded him in his coaching career.

"I am thrilled to be able to speak to up-and-coming coaches about the benefits of working with the High Performance Program in BC, and relate how it has helped me in my career development,” says Kehler.

Kehler was head coach of the BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters from 2004-2007, leading the team to their best regular season record in franchise history and the Interior Conference Championship. The following season he joined the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL as an assistant coach. At the beginning of the 2009-2010 season, Kehler returned to the BCHL as head coach of the Salmon Arm SilverBacks. In his first season in Salmon Arm the ‘Backs would advance to the Interior Conference Championship and see Kehler named Coach of the Year.

“The High Performance program provides coaches a unique opportunity to develop their skills and learn from some of the top coaches in Canada. Tim Kehler is an excellent ambassador for the program and will be able to share first hand the experience it has provided him,” says Aaron Wilbur, The Coaches Site managing director.

The Hockey Coaching Conference will be held at the Delta Burnaby Hotel and Conference Centre on July 29th and 30th.
