Congratulations to the Nanaimo Clippers who have captured the Fred Page Cup in dramatic fashion with a 3-2, game six win over the Vernon Vipers at the Vernon Multiplex Tuesday night. It was a tip-in with just 34 seconds remaining in regulation time that vaulted the Island squad to victory.
The teams battled hard through just over 19 minutes of scoreless hockey in the third period before Clippers forward Tyler Mazzei tipped a point shot past the Vernon net minder to secure the Clippers their second Fred Page Cup in four seasons.
The Clippers will now face the Alberta Champions Camrose Kodiaks for the Doyle Cup. The series will begin its first two games in Nanaimo Friday April 20, 2007.
